For some, “Hakuna Matata” means no worries, but for Lebron James’ first visit back to Cleveland since leaving the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat, there was nothing BUT worries. Fearing that fans would be too roudy with James’ return, the Cavaliers amped up security to protect James… how fitting for a King. Once known as “King James,” the supreme ruler of the mighty state of Cleveland had witnesses left and right bearing gifts and applause for his every breathe. When Cleveland seemed hopeless, Lebron was their beacon of light. He pushed away the thoughts of the horrendous Browns, of the Indians that once had Cliff Lee AND C.C. Sabathia, and the Cavaliers, who well, didn’t have anything or anyone to put a name to. He was literally their King. So what gifts exactly did his once loyal witnesses bear him on his return?

They brought chants, chants, boo’s, and more chants. Chants such as “Akron hates you” and “Scottie Pippen,” referring to his new backup role to Dwayne Wade, filled the arena. Every instance his godly hands touched the ball, the fans were on top of it and gave him what he deserved- yells of frusteration. It would have been understandable if James had thanked them for his years in Cleveland and how he will always remember everything the Cavaliers organization gave him, but said that it was time to move on to win a championship. However, he mocked them. He humiliated them. He treated them like peasants who weren’t even good enough to embrace his presence. So how exactly did he respond?

38 points. Not too shabby if you ask me and the rest of the world. I personally thought that the stress and pressure would simply be too much for him. Not only having to face his former fans, but his former friends like Mo Williams, who thought about retiring simply because he couldn’t believe that his friend and teammate Lebron James had left. But no, Lebron silenced the crowd (well, sort of) with his performance. Of course, the Cavs are a 7-11 team, and the Heat seem to only be able to beat teams with a record below .500, but I guess a win is a win.

We learned several things after watching this game, however.

1) The Cavaliers are still horrible. They have good talent, but lack that extra spark plug to get them anywhere.

2) The Cavalier fans are true fans. That arena looked and sounded like an NBA Championship playoff game, with towels flying around and chants deafening eardrums. Too bad they won’t be reaching the playoffs anytime soon

3) Lebron James, to the Cleveland Cavaliers and pretty much the rest of the NBA excluding the Miami Heat, is still a King… He is, and forever shall be, The Lyin’ King.

If you haven’t been following the NBA recently, the Los Angeles Lakers have unfortunately just lost their 4th game in a row. To start this downward trend was a loss in Utah, which to their defense, is a tough place to play. Next was the Pacers, which I still don’t understand how they were able to manhandle us with really only one weapon in Danny Granger. Following the Pacers was the Grizzlies… is there anything else that needs to be said? The Grizzlies aren’t THAT BAD but it’s the Grizzlies; com’on Lakers really? Lastly, tonight the Lakers lost to the Houston Rockets, without Aaron Brooks and without Yao Ming. Who even scores for them? Sure they have Luis Scola and Kevin Martin, but that’s honestly it. The Lakers have Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Odom, and Gasol with a bench filled with Blake, Barnes, and crew. So what exactly is the cause of this 4 game losing streak? Simply put, Pau Gasol is being overworked.

Looking at the Los Angeles Lakers bigmen, there’s Pau Gasol, then Andrew Bynu… wait, no he has yet to play this year. Well of course, there’s Theo Ratliff right? He just went down with an injury too. Well surely the Lakers have traded for a big man (a trade maybe like sasha vujacic for Jeff Foster perhaps), but to everyone’s suprise, they haven’t. That leaves Caracter as our backup center and well, as a rookie who doesn’t really play center, that’s not that great. Everyone is used to seeing Pau put up MVP numbers: 34 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks game in and game out. Then he’d have an “average” game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 block, and then go back to being his typical dominant self. However, after playing 35+ minutes every night, having to battle against all the west’s big men (which bynum usually does), it has to take a toll. If you look at his stats tonight, he only had 8 points and 9 rebounds. He’s tired! Just how tired though? Let’s ask him.
